Voting In America

Election day. A long day for most, sitting on the edge of their seats, wondering if his or her candidate will claim victory. Stressful for some, indifferent to others, important to many. Impacting the world Every year, and more especially every four, it brings on the question, just how accurate or fair is the voting system? Every city in every state… …has a different “system” for voting. Some use “electronic” voting booths, while others use paper punch cards, and still others use write-ins or check boxes. Recalling the ever so controversial “hanging chad”, one has to wonder why our voting system hasn’t been unified. In this day and age, the “information age”, it seems ludicrous that there is not a uniform method of voting throughout the country. Which leads us to the matter of voter registration. We have instilled a new process to acquire drivers’ licenses in this country, requiring proof of identity, verification of birth and residency. Why don’t we instill the same scrutiny on voter{loadmodule easy_adsense::Advertisement Button} registration? Why isn’t poof of citizenship a strict requirement for a voter registration card? It seems that if we can enforce a tighter reign on drivers licenses, we should put at least as much importance into the great privilege of voting. We can track passports. We can track drivers licenses. Surely, if we don’t pay our taxes, we will quickly...

Did the Virtuous Man Win?

Ignorance is bliss and blissfulness is contagious. We have officially become a minority in this country. “We” not being Republican or Democrat, but “we” being those who are grounded in principles and morals, and “we” being those who question and consider information we acquire from viable sources then take that information, ponder it, and become concerned over its significance. It is not that we are the minority in color of our skin; rather it is that we now have become the weaker voice. We are outnumbered by those who don’t think for themselves. As Election Day came to an end and the office of the U.S. Presidency was announced, I felt sad and dismayed for my children. When I watched Senator Obama deliver his acceptance speech I wanted so much to believe in him. But all those unanswered questions kept gnawing at me; all those conflicting bits of information still remain unsolved. We were done a disservice by our own people… …who have a responsibility to inform us. Why were all those matters ignored? I hope and I pray that somehow they have no relevance to the man who is now our President.               Recently a survey was conducted in New York where the interviewee asked those they interviewed who they planned to vote for. When the person answered, “Obama” the interviewer challenged their response by asking about their feelings on the issues such as the war in Iraq,...

He Is Patient

It is a very minute few that squeek the loudest and make it criminal to mention Jesus in public places. Isn’t that incredible? Can you imagine the patience He has with us. The very breath that they use to deny the truth is given to them by the truth they...

Is Our Allegiance to Our Country or to Our Political Party?

Do you find yourself wondering why many people are “burying their heads in the sand” with regard to all the recent information that has come out about Barack Obama? Does it seem as if they don’t want to know about it and that they and the press are protecting him? What it all boils down to is that they feel they have an allegiance to their party. Most lifelong registered democrats are having a big problem with this and what they need to ask themselves is: Who is their allegiance to, their country or their party? We are at a crucial time in which we need to set aside our blind devotion to our parties and look at the man we are potentially electing to the U.S. Presidency. If Obama was running as an independent would he even be considered a worthy candidate at this juncture? Unfortunately he is representing the democratic ticket. This is their man – they have no other. Asking them to look at their candidate’s corrupt background is like asking them to turn against what they perceive to be their belief structure. This is precisely why our bipartisan form of government may need re-evaluating. At this present time we are divided when we should be unified. There is a lot of information coming out about this candidate that needs serious consideration. We need honest answers...
